About
WhyManhattan is an independent editorial project. I built it because most Manhattan travel content optimizes for volume: long lists, recycled photos, and recommendations without a stated reason. This site publishes fewer pages with a clear job—help a reader decide what fits their trip, budget, timing, and tolerance for crowds.
How I work
Every guide starts with a reader question, not a keyword. I research official sources first—transit agencies, museums, city agencies, and venue pages—then compare options against the stated audience and constraints. AI tools may assist drafting or formatting, but nothing is published without human review, source checks, and a named last-reviewed date.
- Official and primary sources before blogs or aggregators.
- Prices, hours, and access rules verified against current public pages when facts are fast-changing.
- No invented first-person stories, fake quotes, or directory filler.
- Corrections published when verified material changes.
What this site will not publish
WhyManhattan does not scrape business directories, publish undisclosed pay-to-play rankings, or treat popularity scores as editorial judgment. Businesses cannot buy placement. When a commercial relationship exists, it is disclosed on the relevant page.
The full standards are on Editorial Standards and How we choose.
